A short poem by Federico Garcia Lorca is the inspiration of this handmade box.
I used black ink to paint the cover and the bottom.
Lorca's poem "Solo un olivo" celebrates the Andalusian countryside covered with olive trees and I wanted to fill this box with flavors from my beloved Andalusia.
The inside reveals 3 little parcels, each containing:
red wine salt, lemon salt and sundried tomatoes from the Alpujarras.

I've prepared the aromatized salts following a slow drying process.

The red wine salt is prepared with a highly flavored Ribera de Duero wine and enhances red meats, vegetable soups, pasta and sauces.

To prepare the lemon flavored salt, I used bio lemons from an orchard outside my village.

The sundried tomatoes come from the garden of an old couple living in the Alpujarras mountains, who sell their produce at the local market. One tomato is enough to add a wonderful sunny flavor to a simple meal of pasta or a veggie stew.

This spice box makes a very special gift for anyone loving the handmade touch and the art of slow process.
